Ask the FAQ Assistant

I can answer common questions about our LDA practice. I'm not an attorney and can't give legal advice.

Are you a lawyer?

No. We are registered and bonded California Legal Document Assistants. We cannot give legal advice, interpret the law, or choose forms for you. We prepare self-help documents at your specific direction under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 6400–6415.

How is this different from LegalZoom or a kit?

A human paralegal prepares your packet — not a template engine. You speak with someone who has done this many times before, in the same California courts.

What happens after I pay?

You're redirected to an intake form with a copy of your payment reference. Once we receive your intake we begin preparing your packet, typically within 2–5 business days depending on complexity.

Do you file the documents in court for me?

Only if you direct us to. Court filing fees and service-of-process costs are separate and paid to the court or process server.

What if my matter is more complicated than the packet?

We will tell you. If your situation calls for an attorney, we will say so and (where possible) point you to a resource. We will not take a packet fee for work we cannot properly do.

What is your refund policy?

Packet fees are non-refundable once the completed packet has been delivered. If you cancel before delivery, we will issue a pro-rata refund reflecting work already completed. See the Terms for details.

Which counties do you serve?

We primarily serve the San Francisco Bay Area but accept matters from throughout California. Court rules vary by county; tell us where you intend to file and we will confirm we can help.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. We use the information you provide only to prepare your packet. See our Privacy Policy for details on storage, retention, and your rights.
